Winners and Migraines

Sorry everyone that I didn't post the winner last night. I have this killer migraine that just won't go away and I kinda crashed when I got home!

But we have a winner(s)! J and I got a lot of great useless information.
The winner is Terry and second place is Carol in Sweden. Please email me your addresses and I will send your goodies out right away!

We decided to pick the winner out of a hat since we had so many great responses but J's favorite was from Paula who told us "Cab fare from New York City to Los Angeles....$8,325 (not including tip.) ". Thank you to all of you who participated and I am sorry that I can not give everyone a prize for their great information!

Besides being miserable with this migraine I have been working on Christmas Tree Skirts. They are going to look great and I really like how the first one is turning out. I almost have the top done, it should be done tonight and then I will start on the second one. I am hoping to get at least 3 out of the mess of Christmas fabric that I have and then I will just have to back, quilt and bind them, which should take no time at all.

I also found out that I finally got a job! I am going to be a 911 dispatcher for our little city of Medina. The good news is that they pay well, pay my retirement, pay me to NOT have health insurance and there is very little chance of lay off! The bad news: swing shift! My first shift will be mostly nights and while I am in training my shift will change every three weeks. But then it will probably be mostly afternoons after that. Every 12 weeks we work a weekend shift and then the next 12 you work a weekday shift. I am just glad that I got a job. I have been working on applying for this job since June and am glad it will finally be over and I can get out of the temporary agency and not have to worry about where my next paycheck is coming from.

So I am off to take more Tylenol (all I am allowed to take!) and try more heated dry rice or maybe Vicks on my head. Anyone have any other suggestions, I would gladly take them!

Hopefully pics of the xmas tree skirts by the weekend!

Well, at least my useless information was entertaining!! LOL

When I get a migraine, it starts with a pain in the side of my head, I get chills and noise and lights bother me. I go to bed with three quilts, something over my eyes and sleep it off. It usually passes in a couple of hours. So sorry you're hurting.

Congratulations on the job!! I tried (and succeded in an offer)a few years ago with 911. I was passing all the tests and interviews but then it took them 1.5 years to call and offer the job. By then I had found a job that I really loved. Good Luck and remember to keep a casual attitude about the calls....some will be AWFUL.

Sara,
I have always found cold to be more effective in getting rid of a migraine. I usually put ice packs on the back of my neck, the sides above my ears and my eyes or forehead. The cold constricts the blood vessels in my head and the vicious cycle of the migraine is broken.
Hope you are feeling better by now.

Congrats on the new job! Migraines are no fun at all! I use to get them and I would feel the effects for two days. I haven't had one for a long time, and I hope I don't have one ever again! The best relief I ever found was just going to bed to sleep it off. It sure messed up a day/evening but that was the only choice for me. I hope you find a solution to yours!
