Balloons, Bags, and a Giveaway

Yesterday this hot air balloon was flying over our property. This is the second one I have seen this weekend. And they were not the same ones. It was a beautiful weekend for something like this and hopefully some day Rich and I can take a hot air balloon ride. It was looking like it was thinking of landing in our pasture.

Luckily the balloon did not land in our pasture, and it didn't seem to bother the horses too much.

I did get out and ride the last several days. It is so pretty out and has been the perfect weather for riding!

Last night I put the finishing touches on the pincushion. I am pretty happy with the way it came out and then I made this bag from the same book the pincushion came from. The material for the bag is Summer In The City by Urban Chicks. I think the line is about a year old. THe lining is a plaid from the same line.

J and I have this game we play called "Did you know". We try to see what totally useless information we can stump the other person with. Example: Did you know that more people are killed by donkeys than airplanes?? or Did you know that a pearl will melt in vinegar?? so...where is this going?

Now, for what you have all been waiting for. I am at post 107. So in honor of missing post 100 and being at 107, a giveaway. But you have to come up with a totally useless piece of information and post it. Then J will pick the winner next Monday, the 20th. So hunt up that useless info and leave a comment. Who knows what we might learn! Oh, and the winner will win a bag like above, filled with ???.

The mask used by Michael Myers in the original Halloween was actually a Captain Kirk mask painted white

So you were riding to this weekend! good for you! the hot air balloon is so surreal... we did that once, I'll never do it again, but i think they're fun to watch floating along.
nice projects your working on. i love that fabric you made the bag out of... I miss finding all these cute fabrics, as the "sewing" fabric stores here in NYC don't carry everything... Even though I'm in the garment center, your to finding a lot of cottons...

I am so jealous that you have horses!! I had one when I was a girl and now you made me want one again, hehehe. They are alot of work though, and probably wouldn't fit in my townhouse...so I will live vicariously through you =)
How many do you have?

My mother always told me that 70% of your body heat is lost through your head - she wanted me to wear a hat when it was cold. Well I looked it up today and this is what I found: Did you know -Between 7 percent and 55 percent of total body heat can be lost through the head. The harder the body works, the more blood is circulated to the head, and the more quickly heat is radiated away. So it looks like mom wasn't always right - hmmm.

BEautiful photos of your balloon visit and horses! It looks a lot like southern Sweden!
Pincush is cute!

How's this?
Frost doesn't stick to the wolverine's fur so that is why Sami (Lappland people) and Eskimo people use the wolverine fur for the collars of their winter coats. But they often use other animal pelts for the lower part of the coat.
Enter me in your blog giveaway! :-)

Congratulations on your 107th post.

My little tid-bit of useless information:
Did you know there is no such thing as a Panther. There is the genus Panthera classification of cat which includes leopards, lions and tigers AKA Panther’s. A Black Panther is really a leopard with black fur.

Love your pincushion and bag! Here's my useless bit of info...Can't remember if an egg is fresh or hard boiled? Just spin the egg. If it wobbles, it's raw. If it spins easily, it's hard boiled. A fresh egg will sink in water, a stale one will float.

An office desk has 400 times more bacteria than a toilet. kind of disturbing isn't it? lol. have a great night. lovely pictures by the way. reminds of balloonfest here in town.

Love your giveaway stuff!! Soooo, here's some useless information: The Tasmanian Devil stores body fat in its tail and an unhealthy devil often has a thin tail. Also, for its body size, it has the strongest bite of any living mammal. Give your horse a kiss on its velvety nose for me!

Did you know that there's a caviar made from snail's eggs and that it's gaining popularity in France?

That's my piece of useless info :)

Cookies were invented in Holland,,,, to test the temperatue of their ovens, they would drip small amounts of cake batter on a pan. They called them "koekjes" or "test cakes"

Hmm...how about, the Cuyahoga River is the only river in the United States that flows both North and South. Or maybe this...In 1873, Colgate made a toothpaste that was available in a jar. That's kinda gross! How do you get it out without getting toothbrush slobber in it?

Did you know that a cup of coffee has 5 times the amount of caffeine as a can of Coke?

And here's another one since you have horses: Did you know that the candy bar "Snickers" was named after a horse that the Mars family owned?
