Earth Day!

What are you doing to Go Green?

I am making several of these bags to use in place of the plastic/paper bags at the grocery store. I have also designated a trash can for pop cans and one for plastic water bottles. And I do not go out "running errands" unless I have several to do! I plan on changing our lightbulbs slowly over to the enviroment friendly ones and switching all my cleaning products over also! I have been eyeing several books at the library that I want to check out about making our home greener.

What a cute bag - very 'earth friendly' too!

I have been using my cloth bags for a year now! Doesn't it make you feel good. Today, I planted my herb garden and some tomato pots.

I'm...donating money to the zoo. It's about all I can do. I mean, recycling is done for us, so there's no point in seperating. I walk around my house and turn off lights in rooms no one is in. *cough* hubby *cough* We've changed a few light bulbs over, but I'm afraid of them, so I leave that up to hubby.

I have really gotten in the habit of having a fabric bag in my car so I don't have to take the plastic bags and I am pretty much in the habit of taking my commuter mug. Little steps are good.

Living out in the country we have sort of always been right much green. Careful of our well water, recyle stuff, grow our food, canning, reuse as they call it now. When going to town as you say do a lot in one run. Been using my homemade shopping bags a while now too. Never had any problems till last shopping day at Walmart the cashier gal did not LIKE them as they would not fit on her BAG HOLDER! I tried to chuckle her out of it but must have been a LONG day for her cause she was not going to be happy no matter what I said. She kept saying we have not been trained for these type bags!So I reckon I can say Walmart is not friendly to 'green bags'...;-)

What a wonderful bag! Every year on Earth day, my kids and I all come up with some small way we can help the world, some new habit that we can each add. (among the things we already do) This year we all decided never to eat ice cream in disposable cups anymore. We are a Cones only family from now on (unless it's at home and we can wash the dish) That's a big sacrifice for a 5 year old who hates sticky hands. LOL. (and he promised if I took him out everyday he would use a cone EACH TIME).
Cheers,
Dionne
PS - Congrats on your win! It's such fun when someone I know wins!
